The Air Quality Partnership of Lehigh Valley-Berks is a public/private coalition of volunteers dedicated to improving air quality in Lehigh, Northampton, and Berks Counties.

Together we can :

  • Increase the public's understanding on the impact of air pollution and provide education through local schools, businesses and direct communications with partners
  • Encourage voluntary actions to reduce air pollution emissions
  • Provide forecasts and alerts for days with high air pollution, called “Action Days”
  • Provide health effects information and guidelines to prevent or reduce exposure

The Environmental Protection Agency created this color-coded Air Quality Index chart to make it easy for everyone to understand when air pollution is reaching unhealthy levels in their communities. For example, the color orange means that conditions are "unhealthy for sensitive groups," while red means that conditions may be "unhealthy for everyone," and so on.
