September 2: Third Air Quality Action Alert in Three Days

Wednesday, September 1, 2010

If you're signed up for daily Air Quality Forecasts in our region, you know that tomorrow has been declared another Air Quality Action Day. Unfortunately, this is the third Air Quality Action Day in a row in Lehigh, Northampton, and Berks Counties. As with the previous two days, ground-level ozone conditions (smog) are predicted to be at the Code Orange level, while particle pollution is expected at a Code Yellow level. On the Air Quality Index, these colors correspond to different amounts of pollutants in the air and the relative air quality resulting from these and other conditions. Code Yellow is considered Moderate, while Code Orange is considered Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups. A full breakdown of the Air Quality Index can be found at this useful resource page on our website, which includes links to more information on ozone and particle pollution.
