Tell President Obama: Soot Kills!

Wednesday, November 14, 2012

From the American Lung Association:

Tell President Obama: Set Strong Soot Standards

This past summer, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) proposed to update health standards for soot in our air. You and thousands of other healthy air advocates sent a strong message to EPA that they must set the strictest safeguards on soot pollution.

Now President Obama needs to hear from you that you support strong standards.

Big Polluters are fighting to block the standards because they want to keep polluting our air. They don’t want you and your neighbors to know just how dangerous current levels of soot are. Thousands of studies show that soot from diesel engines, power plants and factories damage the lungs and heart, trigger asthma attacks and can even kill.

Tell President Obama to set new standards to protect you and your family from dangerous soot pollution.

We need you to stand up for clean air. Tell President Obama to protect the health of everyone, especially our children, seniors and those with lung disease.

Big Polluters want to keep the standards where they are today even though independent scientists tell us that we need much stronger standards.

Tell President Obama you want the standards set at levels that will protect our health and our communities from this deadly pollutant.

Thank you for all you do.

Sincerely,
Peter Iwanowicz
